Arrival of a New Steamer |
|
|
Yesterday the new tug and passenger boat, which has been built in the north for Nicholson’s Towage Company Limited, of this port, arrived in this port. The new steamer is named King Edward VII and makes an important addition to the local fleet. She attracted a good deal of attention while lying at her berth on the South Quay. The King Edward VII has been built by Messrs Rennoldson & Son at South Shields and is 100 feet long by 19 feet beam. She is a steel paddle boat with engines of the side lever surface condensing and disconnecting type; capable of developing about 280 indicated horse-power. Her cylinders are 25 inches in diameter and 45 stroke. |
