Obituary, Eastern Daily Press, 15th January 1912:

Death of Mr Harry Nicholson

We record with regret the death, which took place on Friday night at his residence, 35 South Quay, Yarmouth, of Mr Harry Nicholson, managing director of Nicholson’s Towage Company Limited, at the age of 61.   He had succeeded his father, a veteran tugowner who died only thirteen months since, at the age of over four score.   Mr Nicholson had been connected with the sea all his life, and was an expert in tug work, with a thorough knowledge of all parts of the North Sea.   He had taken part in many notable salvage services, and his tugs had cruised to all parts of the United Kingdom.

He was a man of cheerful disposition personally, but had been ill for some time.   It will be recalled that but a short time since his mother died suddenly while on her way to Southtown Station to take a train to Lowestoft.   Seafarers in many ports will regret to hear of the death of Mr Nicholson, who leaves a family of five sons.   He was equally known to hosts of summer visitors through his control of one of the summer steamers running pleasure trips at Yarmouth.   Sincere sympathy will be felt with the family in their bereavement.   Vessels lying in Yarmouth Harbour have hoisted flags at half mast as a tribute to his memory.
